"Asmita Khelo India Women's National Weightlifting Competition" to be held at Mahatma Gandhi Indoor Stadium

Bermhapur, 7/1 (Abhijit Kar): A press conference was held by the Odisha Weightlifting Association at the local Mahatma Gandhi Stadium Weightlifting Conference Hall. President Chitta Ranjan Swain, Secretary K Ravi Kumar, Working President Narayan Sahu, Vice President Ramesh Chandra Padhi, Joint Secretary Janaki Ballav Mishra, and Working Member Gagarin Nayak were prominently present. In this context, it has been informed that the Asmita Khelo India Women's National Weightlifting Competition will be held from 9th to 14th of this coming Month at the Mahatma Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Berhampur. In this competitions will be held in 10 weight categories each from youth, junior and senior categories from 26 states. It is reported that more than 400 players will participate in this competition, while more than 50 officials have been instructed to participate.

It is reported that among the 21 competitors from Odisha, international medalists Jyosna Shabar, Mini Santa, Sneha Soren, Subhasmita Mohanty will also participate in this competition. Secretary Mr. Ravi Kumar has reacted that about 10 to 12 medals will be won by Odisha and Ganjam in this competition. Similarly, President Mr. Swain said that the government has made arrangements to give prizes of Rs. 20,000 to the first place winner and Rs. 10,000 to the winners of various categories. Meanwhile, international referee and national President of Uttar Pradesh Sahadeva Yadav is expected to participate as a technical official in the competition to be held in Berhampur, while 3 referees from Uttar Pradesh, 10 from Odisha, 5 from Himachal Pradesh, 5 from Karnataka, 2 from Madhya Pradesh, 3 from Maharashtra, 7 from Uttar Pradesh, and one referee each from Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu, Kerala and Delhi will participate, it has been informed. The opening ceremony of the competition will be held at the Berhampur Stadium tomorrow at 6 pm, while the closing ceremony of the state government's Sports Minister, Shri Suraj Suryavanshi, is likely to joined, it has been said.
