Shankar’s much-anticipated Telugu debut film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, is closing in on the ₹100 crore club. With an impressive start, the film has already crossed ₹89 crore in just its first three days, surpassing the lifetime collections of Kamal Haasan's Indian 2, also directed by Shankar.

Box Office Performance

According to Sacnilk.com, Game Changer collected ₹17 crore on Day 3, with a breakdown of:

  • Telugu: ₹8 crore
  • Tamil: ₹1.2 crore
  • Hindi: ₹7.7 crore
  • Kannada: ₹10 lakh

This brings the total Indian net collection to ₹89.6 crore, outpacing Indian 2's ₹81.32 crore lifetime net collection in India. However, despite the strong opening, the film's performance hasn't fully met expectations.

Day-Wise Collection Breakdown

  • Day 1: ₹51 crore net in India
  • Day 2: ₹21.6 crore net, marking a sharp 57.65% drop
  • Day 3: ₹17 crore net, with Telugu version leading in occupancy

Despite this drop, the film showed improvement in audience turnout, especially in Telugu, with 33.22% occupancy in afternoon shows.

Weekend Challenge

The film faced stiff competition from other releases like Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj and Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam over the weekend. As a result, the film's trajectory has been under scrutiny, and its second-week performance, especially with the Sankranthi festival in play, will be crucial for its box office success.

About the Film

Game Changer follows the story of an IAS officer, Ram Nandan, and an activist, Appanna, both played by Ram Charan. The film tackles issues of corruption in electoral politics, with SJ Suryah playing the antagonist, Mopidevi, a corrupt politician. The movie also features strong performances from Kiara Advani and Anjali, though the reception has been mixed.

Looking Ahead

As Game Changer nears its ₹100 crore milestone, its ability to capitalize on the Sankranthi festivities will be key in determining its long-term box office performance. Fans and industry watchers are eager to see if the film can maintain its momentum and turn the tide after a weaker-than-expected weekend.
