Here are some unique features you might not be aware of, enabling you to use WhatsApp like never before.

1. Chat Lock

Keep your private conversations secure with Chat Lock, which adds an extra layer of protection. Chats moved to a locked folder are accessible only via a password, biometric authentication, or Face ID. Notifications for these chats are also hidden, ensuring complete privacy.

How to Enable Chat Lock:

  • Open the chat you want to lock.
  • Tap the contact or group name, and select the Lock option.
  • To view locked chats, pull down on your inbox and enter your password or biometric authentication.

Future updates will include options for locking chats on companion devices and setting custom passwords different from your phone’s lock.

2. Typing Indicator

The new Typing Indicator feature makes chatting more engaging. Instead of the traditional "typing..." prompt, users will now see the profile picture of their chatting partner along with a "…" symbol, making interactions more intuitive.

3. Text Editing

Avoid embarrassment caused by typos with the new Text Editing feature. This allows you to edit a sent message within the first 15 minutes of sending it.

How to Edit a Sent Message:

  • Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the chat window.
  • Select Edit and make your changes.
  • Click the tick (✔) button to confirm the final version of your message.

4. Share High-Quality Photos

No more compromising on image quality! WhatsApp now lets you send photos in their best quality without converting them to documents.

How to Enable High-Quality Photo Sharing:

  • Go to Settings > Storage and Data.
  • Under Media Upload Quality, select Best Quality for photos.

This ensures your pictures retain their clarity and resolution.

5. WhatsApp Status Mentions

With the new Status Mentions feature, users can tag and mention others directly in their WhatsApp status. The tagged user can also re-share the status, enhancing collaboration and visibility among users.
