OSSC Exam Tragedy: Odisha CM Announces ₹4 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Deceased Candidates’ Families

 

The Odisha Government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh each for the families of two job aspirants who tragically lost their lives during the physical test conducted by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). The compensation will be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), as per a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families.

Deceased Candidates Identified

The two candidates who lost their lives during the physical test are:

  • Byomokesh Nayak from Keonjhar district
  • Prabin Kumar Panda from Sundargarh district

The physical test was being conducted for recruitment to the posts of Forest Guards, Foresters, and Livestock Inspectors at various locations across the state.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in recruitment exams, prompting calls for a review of the testing procedures.
