Brahampur, 31/8 (Abhijit Kar): Brahampur Municipal Corporation has celebrated Self-Government Day in grand style. As per the schedule, on Saturday morning, the national flag was hoisted by Mayor Sanghamitra Dalai in the presence of Commissioner Bhavani Shankar Mishra, Deputy Mayor E.Vivek Reddy and all the corporators and other employees in the premises of the Corporation office. Similarly, Mayor Mrs. Dalai informed that in the afternoon, in the conference room of the Corporation, various developmental works were inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister through Video Conferencing, grants were given to various beneficiaries, tree planting program in Ward No.15 and corporate offices of various wards were inaugurated and various development works were inaugurated. Similarly, in the evening, a public meeting was organized at Khalikot College playground under the chairmanship of Mayor Mrs. Dalei. Professor Gitanjali Das, Chancellor of Berhampur University, Deputy Mayor Mr. Reddy, Commissioner Mr. Mishra, Former Cashew Corporation Chairman and Tree Lover Subas Chandra Maharana, Urban Bank President R Murali Mohan, Higher Secondary Education Council Southern Deputy Secretary Dr. Kulamani Ojha was a major Present in the Program.

On this occasion, the guests in their speeches praised the progress of the Municipal Corporation and its welfare and public welfare works. On this occasion, Brahampur Municipal Corporation awarded prizes to the employees who achieved excellence in various activities and also awarded prizes to officials, employees, corporate and journalist contestants in various competitions held earlier. In this program, many prominent people of Brahampur city were honored with the honor of “Odiya Ashmita”. Subash Maharana, a tree Lover, was honored with special honours. In the colorful cultural program held at the end, singer and comedian Pappu Pam pam, Singer Satyajit Pradhan, Bishnu Mohan Kabi, Saurni Brian, Sugyani Mohapatra, Shilpi Pati and dance performance of Rdx dance group and local artists showed their talent. The program was managed by all the officers of the Corporation while all the departmental staff contributed in the management.

However, there was an exception in this event, which is held once a year, state Transport Minister Bibhuthi Bhushan Jena, Berhampur MP Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panigarahi, MLA K Anil Kumar and some BJP corporators who were invited as chief guests were not present in this event. In this situation Mayor Ms. Dalai expressed her opinion that honorable ministers, MP and MLA were invited with respect, but they could not participate in the program because of some urgent work.
