Authorities suspect that Mahalaxmi was murdered at the beginning of the month, with her body cut into pieces using a sharp weapon, such as a knife or sword. Originally from Tripura, Mahalaxmi had been working at a popular mall in Bengaluru.
Residents of her neighborhood noted that Mahalaxmi had been living alone for the past five months and was not very social, although her brother had stayed with her for a few days. Police investigations have revealed that she was married and had a son, but was living separately. On Monday, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda confirmed, “We have clear information about the accused who committed this crime.” The suspect is reportedly from another state but had been residing in Bengaluru.
