Odisha Govt to Test Quality of Puri Jagannath Temple Mahaprasad
Food inspectors are set to be appointed at Shreemandira, the iconic Lord Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha, to ensure quality control, according to Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
Steps are being taken to maintain the quality of Mahaprasad, the renowned offering of Lord Jagannath. Minister Harichandan, on Friday, stated that discussions have been held with the health department regarding the appointment of food inspectors.
In addition to Mahaprasad, the quality of ghee used in its preparation will also be inspected. The minister emphasized that adulterated ghee is not being used but directed the temple administration to conduct further tests to verify the quality.
This move follows concerns raised over the recent reports of adulterated ghee being used in the Tirupati temple, where it was alleged that animal fat and fish oil were found in the famous prasad ladoo.
