Nine devotees charred to death, several injured as tourist bus catches fire in Haryana’s Nuh

Nuh: A horrific accident took place on Kundli Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Nuh, Haryana in which a tourist bus carrying devotees caught fire. Nine people were killed and several others suffered injuries in this accident. 

The incident took place around 2 am on Saturday morning. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital. The bus was going from Mathura to Jalandhar.

Victims are residents of Punjab and Chandigarh

As soon as information about the incident was received, the police team reached the spot. The fire brigade team also arrived. After much effort, the fire was brought under control. 

The injured were rescued by breaking the windows of the bus. In this accident, 9 people suffered severe burn injuries and died on the spot. Some people are seriously injured and have been admitted to a local hospital.

According to the police, all the people travelling in the bus are residents of Punjab and Chandigarh. These people were travelling to visit Mathura and Vrindavan. While the devotees were returning home on the bus, the accident occurred on the expressway.

Bus was ferrying 60 devotees

According to a devotee travelling in the bus, all the people were relatives. Everyone had planned to visit Mathura-Vrindavan and had booked a bus on rent. There were a total of 60 people in the bus, including women and children. 

“Everyone was returning home when the bus suddenly caught fire. Within no time, the fire spread everywhere. Somehow, I saved my life by getting out of the bus,” said a devotee.

Seeing the flames, the nearby villagers ran to the expressway and started pouring water on the bus. The villagers started evacuating people by breaking the windows of the bus. By then, police and fire brigade teams also arrived.

Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed said, “I would say that this is a very painful, sad and heart-wrenching incident. The devotees were returning from Vrindavan. The bus caught fire and several people including elderly, women, and children got injured.”

Fire caused by short circuit?

The bus was completely burnt in this accident. The luggage and seat covers kept in the bus were burnt to ashes. The police have sent information to the families of the deceased.

 According to a police officer, the accident will be investigated. According to the initial probe, it is suspected that the fire was caused by a short circuit.
