New Delhi:  The Delhi traffic police issued an advisory on Sunday in view of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s proposed protest at BJP headquarters. Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday announced that he along with his party MPs and MLAs will go to the BJP office as a mark of protest against his aide Bibhav Kumar’s arrest in connection with the alleged assault on party’s Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal.

According to police, the AAP has not sought any permission for the proposed march and the party will not be allowed to hold any protest outside the AAP premise.

AAP to march to BJP HQ

Arvind Kejriwal will today lead a protest by senior AAP leaders at BJP headquarters in Delhi this noon , a day after Bibhav Kumar’s arrest. Accusing the BJP of targeting and arresting AAP leaders one by one, the CM challenged the saffron party to arrest them all at once if they wanted.

Kumar, personal assistant of Kejriwal, was on Saturday arrested from the CM’s residence by a Delhi police team in the alleged assault case. He was sent to a five-day police custody. Swati Maliwal alleged that Kumar slapped her in the face and kicked her in the chest and abdomen on May 13 when she had gone to meet the Chief Minister.

Maliwal slammed the AAP over the planned march and that the party which had once hit the streets to seek justice for gangrape victim Nirbhaya, is now protecting someone who made the CCTV footage disappear and formatted the phone. “There was a time when we all used to come out on the streets to get justice for Nirbhaya, today after 12 years we all came out on the streets to save the accused who made the CCTV footage disappear and formatted the phone? I wish so much effort had been made (to seek release of) Manish Sisodia ji. Had he been here, maybe things wouldn’t have been so bad for me!” she said in a post on X
