Delhi-Bangalore Air India flight with 175 onboard catches fire mid-air, lands safely at IGI Airport

New Delhi:  An Air India flight bound for Bangalore from Delhi gave its 175 passengers a mid-air scare on Friday evening when a suspected fire broke out in the air conditioning unit. The incident triggered a full emergency declaration at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) around 5:52 pm, as flight AI 807, an Airbus A321, prepared for an unexpected landing.

Fortunately, the plane landed safely at 6:38 pm, averting a potential disaster. An airline official confirmed the incident and assured that alternative travel arrangements were being made for the inconvenienced passengers to reach their destination in Bangalore.

The plane, operating flight AI 807, landed safely at the IGIA)in the national capital. There were 175 people on board, the sources said.

The sources said a suspected fire was in the air conditioning unit, and an emergency was declared. The plane made a safe precautionary landing at around 6.40 pm.

As per the flight tracking website flightradar24 data, the flight was operated with an A321 aircraft.
