External Affairs Minister takes ‘International Khan Market gang’ jibe at Western media

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday responded to the portrayal of India by the Western media. He said that just like the ‘Khan Market Gang’ in India there also exists an “International Khan Market Gang”. He made the statement during an interview with news agency ANI.

Symbiotic relationship between the 2 groups: Jaishankar

Jaishankar further said that in India at present there is a certain thought process or entitlement process evident, for which the term “Khan Market Gang” can be aptly used. Describing the term he said that there are some people who are linked to some people out there. HE said both the India “Khan Market Gang” members and the international ones, are socially comfortable with each other. Both of these “gang members” feel socially comfortable with each other and feel that they have similar views.

Jaishankar described these groups as elitists who have a left-lib thought process. He said that there is a kind of symbiotic relationship between the 2 (the Indian ‘Khan Market Gang” and the “International Khan Market Gang”). He further said that when the sales of the domestic “Khan Market” are down, the international ones provide full support to them.

The External Affairs Minister then went on to attack the international media saying that they give try to pep up the national “Khan Market” gang if they feel that they are not performing up to mark. This is done through which stories are played up and then slant things in a certain way. They are openly endorsing some parties and writing some bad things about some other parties and leaders, he added.

He further alleged that the “International Khan Market Gang” is making an attempt to influence Indian politics and also the way people vote. This attempt at influencing people peaks during elections, but continues even after that, according to Jaishankar.
