Lok Sabha Elections 2024: S Jaishankar gets certificate for ‘First male voter’ at his polling booth | Watch

New Delhi: Voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha polls is underway in 58 constituencies across six states and two Union Territories. Among key constituencies, all eyes are on all seven seats in Delhi. While voting is already underway, several dignitaries have already cast their votes in the morning External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

Jaishankar was the first male voter to cast his vote in his booth in Delhi on Saturday. Speaking to the media after casting his vote, the minister said, “We have just cast our vote and I was the first male voter in this booth. We want people to come out and cast their votes as this is a decisive moment for the country.”

“ Am confident that voters in Delhi will also cast their votes for ‘Viksit Bharat’ and Modi Government. The NDA Government led by PM Modi will return to power,” Jaishankar added. Earlier, during an interview with news agency ANI on Friday, the Union Minister had expressed confidence that the BJP will do much better in the southern part of the country and increase its hold in northern parts.

Slamming Opposition views that while the BJP will get half the seats than last time in Northern India and no seat in the country’s southern part, Jaishankar expressed confidence that his party would get back to power with more seats than before.

‘Huge calculation behind BJP’s 400 paar slogan’

“I think from our point of view…for us, it (BJP) would be dakshin mein double (twice in the south), and for the Opposition, I would say uttar mein even more trouble,” he was quoted as saying. Replying to a question on BJP’s ‘400 paar’ slogan, the minister while admitting that it is an ‘ambitious target’ added that there is a huge calculation behind the same.
