Odisha Vigilance Arrests Chief Construction Engineer N.V. Harihara Rao on Disproportionate Assets Charges

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested N.V. Harihara Rao, Chief Construction Engineer of the Rural Works Circle, Balasore, on charges of possessing disproportionate assets, as per reports on Saturday.

A series of searches revealed that Rao held assets far beyond his known sources of income, including Rs. 46.45 lakhs in cash discovered at his brother-in-law’s residence in Berhampur. Among the other assets unearthed were two buildings, a 3-BHK flat, two suspected benami flats in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, five high-value homestead plots, investments and deposits amounting to Rs. 3.42 crores, and 510 grams of gold, none of which Rao which he could not explain satisfactorily..

Following these findings, Rao has been arrested and will be presented before the court today. The Odisha Vigilance has registered the case under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 11/2024, and the investigation is ongoing.
