Odisha Vigilance Arrests Two Police Officers in Nabarangpur for Bribe Acceptance

Nabarangpur: Cracking down on corrupt government officials, Odisha Vigilance on Saturday apprehended two police officers in Nabarangpur district for demanding and accepting a bribe.

The accused have been identified as probationary sub-inspector Raghunath Hansda and assistant sub-inspector Siba Prasad Dalei of Papadahandi Police Station.

According to reports, Hansda and Dalei were caught by the Vigilance team at Papadahandi Police Station while accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,000/- from a complainant in exchange for releasing his seized motorcycle.

Hansda was nabbed while accepting the bribe on the instructions of Dalei. The tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized.

Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Hansda and two locations linked to Dalei, focusing on disproportionate assets (DA).

Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No. 18 Dt. 21.09.2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is ongoing against both officers.
