Officials should continuously monitor Chardham Yatra: CM Dhami

Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister (CM) Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, while reviewing the Chardham Yatra arrangements at the Secretariat on Friday, took feedback on various arrangements from the District Magistrates of the districts related to the Chardham Yatra. Chief Minister Dhami is going to Barkot and taking stock of the arrangements of Yamunotri Dham from Ground Zero himself. In view of the convenience of the devotees in the Chardham Yatra & to make the journey easier, the CM Dhami himself is taking the lead. CM Dhami has instructed the secretaries of all departments related to the Chardham Yatra to continuously monitor all the arrangements related to their departments on the Chardham Yatra routes; & also send senior officials of the departments to the spot. He said that all the officers should fully cooperate with the District Magistrate and SPs of the districts associated with the Chardham Yatra in the travel arrangements. Any kind of negligence in travel arrangements will not be tolerated.

Chief Minister Dhami instructed that the places where arrangements have been made to accommodate the passengers, it should be ensured that all the basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, toilets, food, milk for children and other necessary facilities are available at those places. He directed that adequate quantity of drinking water and other facilities should be available to the devotees on the Chardham walking routes. In view of crowd-management & convenience of the devotees during Chardham Yatra, alternative routes should be arranged as per requirement, & devotees should also be given information about these routes. CM Dhami instructed the Secretary Transport that special care should be taken of the fitness of the vehicles. If any vehicle is running on the travel-route without fitness certificate, the responsibility for this should be fixed on the concerned transport officers. He said that the devotees should be sent on Chardham Yatra only as per the registration. Offline registration should be postponed for the time being.

The Chief Minister took information about Kedarnath Yatra from District Magistrate (DM) Rudraprayag. DM Rudraprayag- Shri Saurabh Gaharwar informed that the Yatra at Shri Kedarnath is going on smoothly. Till date, 11,000 devotees have visited Shri Kedarnath shrine, 8,000 pilgrims have gone for darshan on foot. All basic facilities are being provided to the devotees at the halting places. He told that the arrangements for vehicular movement on the Yatra route are being monitored from the control room through CCTV cameras. Adequate police force has been arranged on the yatra route for traffic-management. DM Rudraprayag said that he looked at the travel arrangements from Rudraprayag to Gaurikund on Thursday night.

While giving information about his visit to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, District Magistrate (DM) Uttarkashi- Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht said that today 11,000 devotees are likely to visit Gangotri Dham and 10,000 devotees to Yamunotri Dham. All basic facilities are being provided at the places where arrangements have been made for stay of the devotees. SP Uttarkashi said that some people have been found with fake registrations, against whom strict action is being taken. District Magistrate (DM) Chamoli- Shri Himanshu Khurana said that the Yatra at Shri Badrinath Dham is going on smoothly. All arrangements are being made in view of the increase in the number of devotees, in view of the holidays in the coming week.
