Berhampur, 4/10 (Abhijit Kar): The Jan Sampark Rally of the Berhampur Mahanagar Biju Janata Dal has been Started by placing wreaths at the statue of Gandhi and the statue of Madhu Babu at the local Gandhi Nagar Square. Under the direction of BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, on Friday afternoon BJD State Vice President and Coordinating Committee Chairperson Devi Mishra joined as the chief guest along with hundreds of BJD leaders and activists from 42 wards of Berhampur and took out a huge procession from Gandhi Nagar passing through Stadium, Old Bus Stand, Annapurna Bazar, Giri Market. Reached the Rally at Biju Patnaik park with slogans. All senior leaders are floral tributes to Biju Babu’s statue inside the park.
A Public Meeting was held on the occasion in which BJD Ganjam District President Dr Ramesh Chandra Chyaupattanaik, former Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, former MLA Bikram Kumar Panda, Berhampur MP candidate Bhrigu Baxipatra, Mayor and District Women’s President Sanghmitra Dalai, Deputy Mayor E Vivek Reddy, State Secretary Subash Chandra Maharana, District Vice President R Murali Mohan, City President Bijay Chandra Samal, City Women President Mrs. Sonali Gantayat were the mainly Present on stage. In this context, in his speech, the mayor protested the way the BJP government had given women Rs 50,000 in the Subhadra scheme, while the District President in his speech strongly protested against the politics of moving votes of both the state and central governments.
Similarly, the MP candidate accused the BJP of misleading the people of the state by making false promises and did not do any public welfare work after coming to the government. On the other hand, former Berhampur MLA Mr. Panda said, “The BJP government is oppressing the Odishas People in the name of Odia Asmita, which was accused by non-Odia officials, today the BJP government has given its main responsibility in the hands of a non-Odia official.” However, they promised to give a befitting reply to the renaming government and to continue serving the interests of the common people as a determined opposition party.
