Minister Bibhuthi Bhushan attended the General Council meeting of BeMC 

• Corporators grumbled over the issue of issuing birth-death registration certificates

Brahmapur, 12/7 (Abhijit Kar): The general council meeting of the corporation was held on Friday in the conference room of Berhampur Municipal Corporation. In this meeting held under the chairmanship of Corporation Mayor Smt. Sanghmitra Dalai, the newly elected Gopalpur MLA and Minister of Commerce and Transport, Mines and Steel Department Bibhuthi Bhushan Jena, Berhampur MP Dr. Pradeep Panigrahi and Berhampur MLA K. Anil Kumar was felicitated by the Corporation. However, when the meeting was postponed for the last general election, only the standing committee meetings were held by the corporators and various issues were discussed. Later today, a general meeting was held for both the mayor, deputy mayor and all the corporators.

In this, the corporators discussed the basic problems in different wards of the city and their own problems and their solutions and also presented many advanced proposals. Among them are CCTV, public works, health, electricity system, water system, drainage and environment, planning and improvement works, meeting about annual expenditure and the suspension of all of them and issue of birth and death registration certificate which is mainly a hindrance to the general public. Presenting the issue in the House, senior leader and corporator Prashant Patnaik warned both officers and employees that the issue should be resolved immediately. Similarly, other corporators also asked the Mayor MP and MLA to highlight major issues in their respective wards.

Later, when the minister said in his speech how to beautify the city of Berhampur and how to implement the government plan in the corporation, MP Mr. Panigrahi said that he suggested that everyone should work together for the betterment of the city irrespective of the party affiliation. In the end, the MLA expressed his opinion and suggested to work together through discussion on how to solve the basic problems of the city dwellers. Among others, the meeting was attended by all the officers and other departmental officials of the Brahampur Municipal Corporation.
