Ram Patra demands UGC status for Khallikot College

Brahmapur, 29/7 (Abhijit Kar): A memorandum has been issued to the Minister of Higher Education to take steps based on the rules to grant UGC status to the major and oldest college of South Odisha, Khallikot College. Bharatiya Janata Party Ganjam District Vice President Ram Kumar Patra on Monday sent a memorandum to the Higher Education Minister of the Odisha government. According to Mr. Patra, the former Naveen government declared Khallikot College as a University in 2021 without the approval of the cabinet and played with the lives of the public and students. Therefore, taking legal steps to include Khallikot University in UGC will be useful in increasing the skills and self-confidence of the students, the letter mentioned. In addition, this College was established in 1878 and many scientists, doctors, engineers, politicians who studied in this school have gained fame in the state and outside the state and also in the world. So realizing the importance of this college, U.G.C. The information submitted in the memorandum has given that appropriate steps should be taken to raise the status of Khallikot College issue.
