Urgent council meeting called to deal with artificial flood in Brahmapur – Pitabash 

Berhampur, 1/6 (Abhijit Kar): Lightly rain causes artificial flood in Berhampur city, rain in Ashok Nagar, Godabarish Nagar, Gajapati Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Aska Road, Auto Nagar, Old Berhampur area, Neheru Nagar, Gate Bazar area. All these areas are becoming submerged due to lack of drainage. Sewage water seeps into homes, leading to an increase in infectious diseases and millions of people living in urban areas. In this context, monsoon rains are expected to enter Odisha on the next fortnight. Half of the drains in the city have collapsed, and the drains have not been cleaned. Drains full of soil and debris are completely incapable of draining rainwater, and every year billions of rupees are spent on repairing culverts, drains and drains to no avail. Mr. Pitabash Panda a member of the State Legislative Council and a BJP leader, has called for an immediate council meeting to prepare a plan to deal with the artificial floods on a war-time basis.
