PM’s TB Free India Campaign Start from Ganjam District

• Health is wealth, everyone should take care of it – Health Minister

Berhampur, 1/7 (Abhijit Kar): Prime Minister’s TB Free India Campaign has been launched in the state. Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling has launched from Ganjam district. Health Minister Shri Mahaling joined the program organized at Diamond Jubilee Town Hall in Berhampur as the chief guest and said that health is wealth and everyone should take care of it. He informed that steps will be taken to make the program more people-oriented through mass awareness. Fisheries and Animals Resources, MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallick, who was one of the guests, said that the program will be more effective through awareness. This year, proper screening of those who missed out on regular vaccinations and missing out on the scheme, as well as pregnant women who have not been tested for Hepatitis-B, will also be included.

The awareness program will continue from today for the next two months. Asha workers in rural and urban areas go door to door to ORS. To create awareness about preparation, use of zinc, use of L-Lyn/ITN, hand washing, treatment methods for dangerous diarrhoea, tuberculosis, leprosy etc. Awareness programs will be expanded through coordinated IEC programs at facility level to inform about the preparation and use of materials, covering about 838,000 households in the past years. About 50,866 children under five years of age were diagnosed with diarrhea and treated with ORS and zinc. Similarly, 25,640 people were tested for malaria and dengue. Of these, 2,595 persons had a history of tuberculosis and 194 were suspected of having leprosy and treated accordingly.

In all community and college schools of the state, proper hand washing methods were taught and explained about how to stay healthy. It was hoped that such a program would be absolutely successful, the public would benefit and the atmosphere of good health would return to the society.  It was discussed that the aspirants will have a Main role in this direction and they will make the program successful. Among others, Berhampur MLA K. Anil Kumar, Chhatrapur MLA Krishna Chandra Naik, Sorda MLA Neelmani Bisoy, Berhampur Mayor Smt. Sanghmitra Dalai, Ganjam District Collector Divya Jyoti Parida, Berhampur Sub-Collector Dhina Dastagir and District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Uma Shankar Mishra and DPHO Madam, Commissioner Berhampur, DPMU, CPMU were major guests on the occasion. An awareness drive was launched and nutritional food and MDD kits were distributed to many beneficiaries by the guests.
